SOCW 2014

Spirit of Christmas Wangaratta is an award winning community inclusion project operated by Wangaratta District Specialist School (WDSS)  Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) students to provide at no cost as many free presents to those less fortunate in our community to enjoy a more positive christmas in a open friendly welcoming shop environment for the last two years.

The students in 2014 were supported  by GOTAFE Wangaratta VCAL students, WDSS staff, a committee of community members and key  business leaders who have all provided  positive support and mentoring to allow the students to complete  all components of the project .These components include marketing , planning , administration and manufacturing of gifts which are all linked to their  VCAL learning outcomes . The 2014 shop location was at 78 Murphy st Wangaratta and gave out over 11,000 presents over three days.

In 2015, the shop will be open on Saturday 12 December from 8am – 5pm for one day only, which we are calling ‘Super Saturday’. The location will be the same as 2014, which is 78 Murphy Street Wangaratta.

This community project is made possible each year  by the people who lend out the shop, tables, covers, mirror, racks and fridge, give free insurance, supply signs and local media outlets.

We hope you join us in our efforts in 2015
